We will check your address, roof size, sun exposure, and usage to determine if your house qualifies.
We'll share a custom solar panel design for your roof that allows you to see exactly where the panels will go, how much energy they'll produce, and how much money you'll save
Sunrun installs, services, and maintains your solar panels at no cost. You can save 30% to 50% from day one and never worry about BGE or PEPCO rate hikes again.
Hear from real people and discover how Sunrun gives them the freedom to live life on their own terms.
If your home qualifies, then the answer is "yes, it doesn't cost you anything." Maryland's stated goal is to get 50% of all homes on renewable energy by 2030, and 100% by 2040. Because of this, the state funds the installation, servicing, and maintenance of panels through a charge that every Maryland utility customer already pays on their BGE or PEPCO bill. That means no loan, no financing, no debt, and nothing out of pocket. The panels are installed, insured, and maintained at zero cost to you.
On your roof. Before any work begins, we build a custom panel design specific to your home so you can see exactly where the panels are placed, how much energy they will produce, and what your monthly savings will look like. Nothing moves forward until you review and approve the design.
The program includes a dedicated roof insurance policy that covers any damage related to the installation. This is separate from, and in addition to, your existing homeowners insurance policy. If anything goes wrong with your roof because of the panels, it gets repaired at no cost to you. The panels also come with additional warranties for workmanship, roof penetration, and energy production for up to 25 years.
P.S. Sunrun also has 1,500,000+ customers and just received Consumer Affairs' Buyers' Choice Award for "Best Customer Service." Sunrun wouldn't have that many customers, and wouldn't have received that award if they were messing up people's roofs.
We will tell you upfront, for free, and there is no obligation either way. Not every home qualifies, and we will never pressure you into something that does not make sense for your situation. The qualification check costs you nothing and takes less than a day.
Once your home is approved and your custom panel design is finalized, most installations are completed in a single day. SunRun handles the full process from permit to completion. You do not manage any of it.
I have been selling homes in the DMV for over 13 years. Right now, when a buyer tours a home, they are thinking about the mortgage, the neighborhood, the condition of the roof, and the kitchen. The utility bill is barely an afterthought. But that is already starting to change, and the data tells you exactly where this is headed.
Electricity prices across the country have risen nearly 40% since 2021. In 2025 alone, they rose 5.5% — nearly double the overall rate of inflation, outpacing groceries, gasoline, and medicine. Here in the DMV, the numbers are even worse. This area saw a 24.5% increase in electricity prices in a single year, from July 2024 to July 2025. That is not a trend. That is a signal.
The National Association of Realtors found that 44% of homebuyers already rank utility costs as a crucial factor in their buying decision. That number will grow. As electricity bills climb, month after month, year after year, with no ceiling in sight, buyers will start doing the math before they make offers. A home with a $500/month electric bill and a home with a $200/month electric bill are not the same home. Soon, they will not sell for the same price even if everything else is the same.
The research backs this up. A 2025 SolarReviews study found that homes with solar panels sell for an average of 6.9% more than comparable homes without solar. On a $1,000,000 home, that is roughly $69,000 in additional value before you count a single dollar saved on electricity. A separate SolarInsure analysis of over 5,000 home sales found that solar systems added 5% to 10% to the resale price.
If you are planning to sell in the next two, three, four, or five years, the math is already working in your favor. And by the time you are ready to list, buyers will be even more attuned to energy costs than they are today. Solar panels will not just be a nice feature. For a growing number of buyers, solar panels will be a deciding factor.
Going Ghost now means your home is positioned for the market that is coming, not the one that already passed.
